Construction work on the replacement school for La Guerre has been intensified as contractors seek to have the school completed in time for the new school year.

Although there were disruptions because of Covid-19 – work continued apace on this model school.

Principal of the La Guerre Primary School, Therese Johnny says previous building, constructed almost 50 years ago was aging and deteriorating.

Curt Charles, Resident Engineer for Dannion CE Ltd says the project engineers and consultants are eager to deliver in time for the new school year.

Funding for the construction came from the Caribbean Development Bank. The work is being done by Construction and Industrial Equipment Ltd, with Pawan Joshi as the Project Manager.

The works are being executed through the Education Quality Improvement Project called (EQuIP), which is based in the Ministry of Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Science, Technology and Vocational Training.

Education Officer for District One, Cirus Cepal says is a dream come true for the school principal, her long-suffering staff, and students. They are excited about some of the new features being added.

The Principal and Staff have been integrally involved in the design stage, lobbying for a music room, staff comfort and accommodation for students with special needs.
