Relief coming to Vide Bouteille Primary School finally
After many years of waiting, the students and staff of the Vide Bouteille Primary School will soon have a brand-new school.
It is currently being constructed under the EQuIP Project within the Ministry of Education with funding from the Caribbean Development Bank.
The Vide Bouteille Primary School has been in existence for thirty-two years with a student body population of approximately 375. The school first opened its doors at the Parish Center in Castries and later moved to its current location in La Clery in 1991.
The staff, student and parents have been lamenting for years the lack of necessary resources and amenities conducive for learning and teaching. And now the renovation of a new structure is nearing completion. The new facility is being funded by the Caribbean Development Bank through the Education Quality Improvement Project (EQuIP)
Teacher in Charge Melisa Hippolyte says there are several improvements and additions including a staffroom with washroom facilities and more.
Aside from being able to house more students, Grade One Teacher Shaquille Aldonza in particular highlighted his enthusiasm for the addition of the school’s new built-in smart technology.
Construction & Industrial Equipment (CIE) Ltd is collaborating with the government to bring this project to fruition by the start of the new school year. Project manager on site, Roger Kalloo, says the new design is sturdy, climate resilient and also caters to the needs of specially-abled students.
The new structure for the Vide Bouteille Primary School will also serve an emergency shelter for residents in the community in the event of a hurricane or other natural disaster.
